Effect of predicted puck trajectory presentation on play in air hockey

Abstract

This paper describes a system for displaying predicted trajectories of a puck in air hockey games in order to assist players to hit back a puck. A puck trajectory is predicted from the previous trajectory captured by a high-speed camera attached over an air hockey table, and it is displayed on the table by a DLP projector. Experiments show that the display of a predicted trajectory has a positive effect on the ability of hitting a puck.
